The Raffles 100 route

Here is our planned route as per colors on Map

Day 1 Wed 1st Aug :Home to Pantygelli

We will set off from our home near Llangwm early in the morning and enjoy a leisurely hack over to Pantygelli, north of Abergavenny via back roads to avoid traffic. Distance 22mls. Although it may be a be of a flat road work walk, it feels good to think we are not boxing the horses at all, just enjoying the whole journey under our own steam and from start to finish.

Day 2 Thurs 2nd Aug :Pantygelli to Capel -y- ffin
This will be one of the most challenging days from an endurance and navigation point of view as we sweep right up on to the top of the Black Mountains before dropping down the east side of Tarren yr Esgob, and to the Monaster at Capel-y-ffin. Hoping for some clear weather and the chance to let Raffles and Clover stretch their legs on the high ridges. Distance 17 miles

Day 3 Fri 3rd Aug :Capel-y-ffin to Llangorse

Still heading north we will climb up onto the Offas dyke ridge and then drop down the escarpment and turn left onto a section of the Three rivers ride until we join the country lanes to Llangorse , there looks to be a nice path to gallop on which skirts round Mynydd Troed. Distance 20 miles

Day 4 Sat 4th Aug :Llangorse to Pantygelli

Sweeping back south east with Myfanwy Mitchell from the Ellesmere Riding Centre, across many of the highest peaks and then skirt of Sugar loaf back to Pantygelli. Distance 21 miles

Day 5 Sun 2nd Aug :Pantigelli to Home
We will head back for home near Llangwm early in the morning. Distance 22mls.
